As a student of cryptography one should note a couple of things about the method of encryption, RC4. If you are going to transmit a lot of information using this method, it is not very safe. RC4 was cracked using 40 frames of data very quickly using a CPU as powerful as your average desktop or laptop (see Breaking 104 bit WEP in less than 60 seconds by Tews, Weinmann and Pyshkin). If you are going to encrypt a large amount of data using DES (which uses a 56bit key) is safer. Second, as with any encryption method, your data is only as safe as your password. Even the most secure methods are easily breakable if you use a word that is in the dictionary or a proper name. If you are seriously concerned about data protection, visiting the Wikipedia page on RC4 may be helpful. That said, the app is easy to use and a good implementation of the encryption algorithm.

Thanks!

Suggestion, allow me to click on the encrypted text and instantly copy it to clipboard. Or have buttons setup to "Copy" "Email" etc etc...

While I wouldnt trust it with your banking information, this app is simple does what it says and is just plain fun to send msgs over im and have your buddy decrypt them. Novelty more than anything but I would like to see the ability to have pictures in it. Fun Fun Fun

Very useful. You can encrypt your texts (by typing or pasting) and it will code it for you with a key password you type in. It will only de-code if you have that same password, so its like sending secret messages in elementary school again. I think it could be improved if you could load .txt files into it, encrypt the file, and save it as a separate .txt file completely obscured. But as of now, it is a neat little applicaiton!

Theres one thing Id like to see added here - Dropbox or iCloud support, or both, along with the same in the iOS version. Then the desktop and iOS versions could interact seamlessly, and enciphered .txt files could be saved in Dropbox, on the desktop, ori n the cloud.

Its simple… but a little too simple. The app is very limited both with features (only allows 8 letters in your keyword) and with security (not the most secure algorithms - AES would be better). I personally prefer Cypher Bot.
